It was good to come back from a few ‘rev-head’ days at the Clipsal 500 to hear a most enthralling presentation by Sandra Lukin and Deb Sampson, who made us much more aware of just what the Variety Club and its annual ‘bash’ is all about. We can reward them with some support, and I have negotiated with Sandra to attach a sign indicating our Club’s support on their car, ‘MLC’ for this year’s Bash-SA. We wish the girls, and their husbands well, as they continue their preparation and that of the vehicle for the event later this year.
Although John Foster introduced them, we couldn’t have done without the services of his grandson Jordan, who at the tender age of about 9 years, very confidently set up all the Audio-Visual gear for the girls’ presentation. An IT guru in the making! Thank you, Jordan.
This week we have an information session about “Living with Asthma”, presented by Sue Dahl, a trainer from the Asthma Foundation. The Foundation’s mission is to help people to breathe better; with a vision to reduce the impact of asthma and other respiratory conditions on peoples’ day-to-day lives.
The foundation can also provide information about living with Chronic lung disease, Eczema, Allergies and Anaphylaxis through information sessions and other avenues.
All these are important topics for us and our families to be aware of these days!
Congratulations go to Brea Price (Bendigo Bank) and Jonathan Argent (K-Mart) who are our successful applicants for the RYLA Camp April 5 to 11 in Adelaide. They are both excellent candidates and both they and their employers should benefit enormously from their RYLA training experience. We wish them both well and hope to have them along to one of our meetings after they return.
I’ve been trying to sort out our annual break-up at Nyroca on a weekend mid to late June. At this point I am able to confirm 25-27 June is available for our usual camping weekend and end of year lunch on that Sunday, but Malcolm may have the previous weekend available if others plans go pear-shaped!!
I’ll keep tabs on that one, and let you all know as soon as I do.
Please don’t forget that next week we have our annual dinner meeting and friendly 10-end match, at the Port Lincoln Bowling Club on Tuesday 30th March, at 6 for 6.30 pm, Bowling Avenue. You are required to wear flat shoes, thongs, or bare feet if weather allows. Bowls are available from the Club on the night.
Please let Terry Doyle know of your attendance or make sure you tick your name off the attendance sheet Murray Lubcke has been circulating for the last few weeks. Come along and join in the fun, with teams made up from Rotarians, partners and Bowling Club representatives!
The saga of the till-tray continues: Although we had one tray returned, unfortunately it was not the one that fits inside the heavy spring loaded till box, so we are still looking for the correct one.
If you have any info on its whereabouts, please advise me. It’s an important piece of our catering equipment and would be a little difficult to replace.
Please note in your diary that we are organising a Combined Services Dinner Meeting at Ravendale on Tuesday 27 April to do some fundraising for Shelterbox. Please refer to the letter published in our E-Bulletin. We will be organising some public displays of the sample tent etc for the week prior to that dinner; planning with Rotarian volunteers to erect, man and dismantle will be made later.
