At last we have inducted our first new member for the year. It has been a long time coming!

Congratulations to Neville Will and to Debbie in joining our Rotary Family.

The induction went as smoothly as possible, with a great introduction by Neville’s sponsor Adrian and I hope you all liked my shorter and much revised version of the induction ceremony.

A very comprehensive presentation on EPNRM was given to us by our guest speaker, Kathryn Hardwick-Franco. She kept everyone attentive, and we had some good Q&A afterwards.

Thank you Kathryn, and to the members, wives, partners and guests who participated.

The ‘Warden of Nyroca’ brought along two French fellows who are presently ‘working’ for him, whilst holidaying in Australia. Pablo made sure he was seated between them, and all three had a great evening together, enjoying the opportunity to speak in their native tongue, and discuss many issues and experiences with which they each have to deal.

I must thank PE Colin West very much for being our sergeant at very short notice.

It was excellent and well crafted with many good laughs and a good revenue raiser at the same time!

February is Rotary Awareness Month and Rotary, with its Youth programs under the banner of New Generations, are encouraged to reach across borders and cultures in the name of service and fellowship. It's also when Rotary celebrates its anniversary on 23 February, marking a special achievement toward the building of peace and goodwill around the world.

This week we celebrate Rotary’s 105th Birthday, but aside from that, we should have quite an interesting evening; We will have to be prepared for the unexpected, as Rotn Lloyd Burgess as our guest speaker, gives us a rundown on his and Marilyn’s last two years adventures; mainly spent in far northern Queensland. A presentation with photos and some film footage possibly!

Our film night last Thursday to raise some funds for TRF ‘End Polio Now’ was reasonably successful, considering the short notice and the fact some people were away for what was an alternative night to the original one planned.

Thank you to David Forbes for instigating it all and to those who made the effort to sell as many tickets as you could.

‘Bran Nue Dae’ was a really good, light-hearted film (not seen too much these days), and I’m sure we all came out tapping our feet, clicking our fingers and had songs still ringing in our heads the next day!

After payments to the theatre and some small organising costs, we should clear about $380.00.

Note: On Wed 24th Feb; Volunteers – please don’t forget Mega’s BBQ at Fisherman’s Point for Lincoln Yacht Club’s ‘ADE-LIN race week’ luncheon.

Others, check with Scott Stenson if you want to help out somehow.

On the 2nd March we have a presentation on the Rotary Youth Driver Awareness (RYDA) Program from the Craig and Jan Rogasch, the District 9500 RYDA Coordinators, from the Rotary Club of Barossa Valley. SAPOL and invited local High School and Area School representatives will be in attendance.

Committees meetings will be on 9th March.

PUCKRIDGE PARK

We had a good roll-up of helpers last Thursday ,the majority of the works have now been completed with the next part of the program to be planting approx 130 various shrubs.

This work will be carried out on April 6th, when Geraldine Turner from E.P.N.R.M. board will be there to offer some technical advice and also youth from Baptist Care Tumbelin Project will  be on hand to do the supervised " heavy lifting" .

We will need to provide 6 members to the supervision.

As time goes gy

A group of 40 year-old buddies discuss and discuss where they should meet for dinner.

Finally it is agreed upon that they should meet at the Gausthof zum Lowen restaurant because the waitresses there have low cut blouses and nice breasts.

10 years later, at 50 years of age, the group meets again and once again they discuss and discuss where they should meet. Finally it is agreed upon that they should meet at the Gausthof zum Lowen because the food there is very good and the wine selection is good also.

10 years later at 60 years of age, the group meets again and once again they discuss and discuss where they should meet. Finally it is agreed upon that they should meet at the Gausthof zum Lowen because they can eat there in peace and quiet and the restaurant is smoke free.

10 years later, at 70 years of age, the group meets again and once again they discuss and discuss where they should meet. Finally it is agreed upon that they should meet at the Gausthof zum Lowen because the restaurant is wheel chair accessible and they even have an elevator.

10 years later, at 80 years of age, the group meets again and once again they discuss and discuss where they should meet. Finally it is agreed upon that they should meet at the Gausthof zum Lowen because that would be a great idea because they have never been there before.

Harley Mechanic

A mechanic was removing a cylinder-head from the motor of a Harley motorcycle when he spotted a well-known cardiologist in his shop.

The cardiologist was there waiting for the service manager to come and take a look at his bike when the mechanic shouted across the garage:

"Hey Doc - Want to take a look at this?"

The cardiologist, a bit surprised, walked over to where the mechanic was working on the motorcycle.

The mechanic straightened up, wiped his hands on a rag and asked, "So Doc, look at this engine.  I open its heart, take the valves out, repair any damage, and then put them back in, and when I finish, it works just like new.  So how come I make $39,675 a year and you get the really big bucks

($1,695,759) when you and I are doing basically the same work?"

The cardiologist paused, smiled and leaned over, then whispered to the mechanic...

''Try doing it with the engine running."

The four way test
Of the things we think, say or do:
Is it the truth?
Is it fair to all concerned?
Will it build goodwill and better friendships?
Will it be beneficial to all concerned?

Invocation:

For food, faith and fellowship and every opportunity of service we give you thanks O’Lord.
