This week we get back into our normal Rotary dinner meetings back at Ravendale Community Sporting Complex..
President David makes a welcome return tonight from his Christmas holidays with his family.
As we enter the second half of President David’s term it is hoped we can continue to enjoy the stronger attendances that we have had over latter weeks.
With all the silly season out of the way we will also hopefully have the opportunity to encourage back some of the prospective members who attended our “New Members Night” that we held on October 20 last year.
Again, Tunarama rosters should be a focus this week with that major Rotary event only a little over a week away. This is an event that requires the participation of a number of Rotarians but is one which provides a high profile for the club and a heap of fellowship for Rotarians.
Tonight is also committee meeting night, so your attendance in input at your respective committees is valued.
Now that everyone has a Bulletin Lite available it contains the information required to ensure that you attend the correct committee and the address and contact details of the host Rotarians . . . so there is no excuse not to attend.
Please use the website www.rotarylincoln.com.au to view all the activities of the Port Lincoln Rotary Club and to check on your rostered duties. If you cannot carry out your duties please ensure that you find someone to replace you.

Tunarama Fireworks Boat Cruise

Saturday 23rd January

For those attending “Watermark” will be departing from the pontoon at the Marina Hotel.

The pontoon is situated on the main channel near the Hotel car park (not the recreational marina).

Please be there by 6.45pm.

Bring your own drinks and food and something warm to wear.

Bare feet or non marking soled shoes are the preferred footwear.

For those who have reserved a berth please confirm your spot by paying Kevin Wiebrecht at this Tuesday’s meeting.  It is $36 a head.

It is anticipated that we will return to the marina by 10pm.

Rotary Youth Exchange

This time of year is quite active as we have students returning from overseas and then our students going out.

Melina Benson, Victoria Barker and Samantha Haslam all return to Adelaide at about 9.00am on Monday 18th January.

I will have more details on Port Lincoln arrivals when I have spoken with their parents.

Emile Pearson leaves for Sweden on the 22nd January from Adelaide. He and his family left Port Lincoln for Adelaide on Saturday 9th.

Pablo is about to change host families. He will be with Terri Christensen and Colin Gamble for three months and should have a very different experience living on a small farm. Colin has him lined up to help with his cattle work. He will learn to crack a stock whip, learn about bushfire action and general farm skills. Colin and Terri have had other exchange students in the past and should be excellent host parents.

It is only six months to go for Pablo so don’t forget to ask him around for a meal or out fishing etc. before it’s too late.

The four way test
Of the things we think, say or do:
Is it the truth?
Is it fair to all concerned?
Will it build goodwill and better friendships?
Will it be beneficial to all concerned?

Invocation:

For food, faith and fellowship and every opportunity of service we give you thanks O’Lord.
