It was really good to hear a well balanced talk from Noel Jenkins about “The Wedding” of Emma Granet in France. We thought it might be a bit of a ‘travelogue’ but his alternative descriptions of all the ‘to-ings’ and ‘fro-ings’ with Emma’s family with the preparation, the wedding itself and the very French celebrations afterwards, had us all quite enthralled.

What an affair for Noel, he’s always a party animal!  Both he and Margaret had a fantastic time there and visited Lars Koorsgard in Denmark as well. Here they had a repeat performance of the great European hospitality with Lars and his family.

This wonderful hospitality by past exchange students and their families is something beyond belief. It is their honest and heartfelt thank you for ‘us’ taking care of their offspring whilst they were in Aus.

REPEAT:       Centurion Club – Heard about it before! But now it’s time to think again, and try some action!

This month is Rotary Foundation Month, and as such, all our members should be giving plenty of thought to becoming Centurion Club members by joining the EREY D9500 Club, where we can individually donate A$100.00 or more p.a. (ie Every Rotarian Every Year) to help fund TRF and support Rotary International advance world peace through improvement of health, support the education of the illiterate and the alleviation of poverty.

The Rotary Foundation (TRF) is our own charity to nourish and support, and is always seeking personal donations, or endowments, regular contributions, Major Donors, Bequests and Benefactors from Clubs.

The Centurion Club is a convenient and personal way to support the humanitarian work of The Rotary Foundation.

Contributions are paid into the Australian Rotary Foundation Trust and are Tax Deductable.

Please refer to this week’s Bulletin (on line) for your application form and associated details.

Your application and donations should be forwarded to:

DG’s wife Vicky’s project:

Kindergarten Readiness Kits for indigenous children.

Jackie sends a big thanks to all those partners who have produced bags, bought materials and other items, as well as all those who offered their kind donations of funds to purchase items for these kits.

Jackie now has 50 bags made with sufficient purchased items to complete the project. We only have some unbreakable mirrors still outstanding and we hope to deliver them to Vicky on Monday 30 Nov.

Jackie is seeking your partner’s assistance to fill the kits, at our place 10 Unga Street, on Friday 27th November and have morning or afternoon tea ‘on the job’.

Corporate Shake Up

If you've ever worked for  a boss who reacts before getting the facts and thinking things through,  you will love this!
Arcelor-Mittal Steel,  feeling it was time for a shakeup, hired a new CEO.
The new boss was  determined to rid the company of all slackers.
On a tour of the  facilities, the CEO noticed a guy leaning against a wall. The room  was full of workers and he wanted to let them know that he meant business.  He asked the guy, "How much money do you make a  week?"
A little surprised, the  young man looked at him and said, "I make $400 a week.  Why?"
The CEO  said, "Wait right here."  He walked back to his office, came back in  two minutes, and handed the guy $1,600 in cash and said, "Here's four weeks' pay.  Now GET OUT and don't come back."
Feeling pretty good about himself, the CEO looked around the room and asked, "Does anyone  want to tell me what that goof-ball did here?"
From across the room a  voice said, "Pizza delivery guy from Domino's."

The four way test
Of the things we think, say or do:
Is it the truth?
Is it fair to all concerned?
Will it build goodwill and better friendships?
Will it be beneficial to all concerned?

Invocation:

For food, faith and fellowship and every opportunity of service we give you thanks O’Lord.
