Well it has been lovely not to have had too busy a Rotary week for a change!

At our last dinner meeting it was very pleasant to welcome Gianna Velte back to our Club. It was her 4th visit since her exchange and her talk to us turned the clock back for many of us, remembering her sometimes cheeky and always confident weekly talks to us during her exchange year.

What a ‘Svelte’ young woman she is now, with attitude as well; to grab her future with both hands! The excellent tertiary results she gained have provided her with quite a few offers for her future prospects in Law. We all wish her the very best in her endeavours and for the coming festive season.

Centurion Club – Heard about it before! But now it’s time to think again, and try some action!

This month is Rotary Foundation Month, and as such, all our members should be giving plenty of thought to becoming Centurion Club members by joining the EREY D9500 Club, where we can individually donate A$100.00 or more p.a. (ie Every Rotarian Every Year) to help fund TRF and support Rotary International advance world peace through improvement of health, support the education of the illiterate and the alleviation of poverty.

The Rotary Foundation (TRF) is our own charity to nourish and support, and is always seeking personal donations, or endowments, regular contributions, Major Donors, Bequests and Benefactors from Clubs.

The Centurion Club is a convenient and personal way to support the humanitarian work of The Rotary Foundation.

Contributions are paid into the Australian Rotary Foundation Trust and are Tax Deductable.

Please refer to this week’s Bulletin (on line) for your application form and associated details.

Your application and donations should be forwarded to:

PP Ken Hinkly, Team Centurion c/- Rotary Club of Salisbury, PO Box 931 Salisbury, SA 5103

Police  Golf Day.

Thanks go to Scott Stenson for at pretty short notice organising the cooking on the BBQ for the event at the triple tee, and for Jenks, for running the ‘book’, on the ‘nearest the pin’ as well.

A tremendous effort by them and their helpers, all in the extreme heat this week too!

Xmas Dinner will be at Ravendale on Sat 19th December 6.30 for 7.00 pm.

I have invited Garry and Judith Cox from the Salvation Army to our Dinner. They will gratefully accept any donated presents for Girls and Boys from newborn to 7 years.

DG’s wife Vicky’s project: Kindergarten Readiness Kits for indigenous children.

Jackie now has 50 material bags made which is her target quantity, but only 13 completed and filled!

She needs donations of goods to fill the bags, as per list, OR

Straight donations of $20.00 per bag to fill each of the remaining 37 bags.

So there is still a way to go yet, and we’d like to deliver them by the end of November!

Jackie has sent out a further email this week seeking either you or your partner’s   assistance to fulfil her goals for Vicky’s project.

(Please contact Jackie 0429 676 661 or 8682 5637)

Starting to Get Chilli...

A young cowboy walks into the town cafe. He sits at the counter and notices an old cowboy with his arms folded, staring blankly at a full bowl of chili.
After fifteen minutes of just sitting there staring at it, the young cowboy bravely asked the old cowpoke, "If you ain't gonna eat that, mind if I do?"
The older cowboy slowly turns his head toward the young wrangler and in his best cowboy manner says, "Nah, go ahead."
Eagerly, the young cowboy reaches over and slides the bowl over to his place and starts spooning in it with delight. He gets nearly down to the bottom and notices a dead mouse in the chili. The sight was shocking and he immediately barfs up the chili into the bowl.
The old cowboy quietly says, "Yep, that's as far as I got, too."

The four way test
Of the things we think, say or do:
Is it the truth?
Is it fair to all concerned?
Will it build goodwill and better friendships?
Will it be beneficial to all concerned?

Invocation:

For food, faith and fellowship and every opportunity of service we give you thanks O’Lord.
