Last week we heard some well considered committee objectives from all the directors.
We were given some insight to their goals for the coming year, and it looks like a busy one, with some planning of new projects in the pipeline together with a well managed rollout of the usual major projects. Their goals will go a long way to helping our club make a real difference in our community with a considerable emphasis on youth.
It was a pleasure for me to officially welcome our new exchange student, Pablo Henry and present him with his ‘Australian’ Youth Exchange Name badge on behalf of the D9500 YEP Chairman, Anthony Masson.
Pablo comes from Sprimont, a city in the southern Department of Liege, in Belgium.
On the 11 August he will make his presentation to us at our dinner meeting to which guests are very welcome, so please make sure your wives and partners are aware and tick off the attendance sheet going around this week.
It was a nice surprise to have Rotarian Janice Paull visit us last week from RC of Canberra-Western Creek, while she was in town to help her parents celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary. She reacquainted herself with quite a few Port Lincoln Rotarians.
Having mentioned those on the sick list over the past few weeks, I haven’t made any personal contact this week, so we might judge their status via individual reports from club members this week.
It was good to see many Rotarians and partners gather at Archie Patterson’s funeral on Wednesday. Certainly it was a marvellous life to be celebrating, with many touching stories from his family and others in the community.
What a guard of honour there was too, as the sun shone on him once more.
Tonight we have our second round of committee meetings!
There have been some changes made recently to committees, which have been sent out to you during the week and should now be included in the update on the website.
As I indicated in my notice to you all, the main reason for the 'reshuffle' was; we needed a better placement of our Major Event Chairmen; off the Club Committee where I had originally placed them, and relocated to more appropriate service committees where their Directors, committee members and assistants are situated.
This hasn't meant any wholesale changes, but a few members have been moved around.
I have done some minor massaging of some job allocations as well, to suit the end result, which I think is far better for our Club's overall operation.
Hope you all end up at the correct location tonight!
A reminder: Your subs are now due. $100.00; Please see Treasurer Mike Munro, or the assistant Secretary Ron Carey, as there will no doubt be fines soon for late payment, but I’ll leave that up to the Sergeant who will be Pinno for this and next week
