(This ‘Patter’ is being written before the weekend is near!)

It’s usually a Sunday morning thing.

I have been very busy lately preparing many things for the Charter meeting of the new ‘Port Lincoln Combined Probus Club’  at which they will all be inducted by me, on behalf of our Club on Friday 7th August.

They are all very keen and excited, and also grateful for our Club’s sponsorship of their combined club. The need is quite obvious when they have 41 Foundation members signed up already, with another dozen prospects in the wings!

Thanks must go to PP Greg Patterson, Ian Newland, Allan Burrows and Graham Lees the District 9500 Coordinator for Probus Centre South Pacific, for doing the ground work to found this Club.

Don Laube is their Charter President, Trevor Schubert is Vice President, Barbara Chambers is Secretary, and Max and Jill Anderson (formerly of Wirrulla) are Joint Treasurers.

I have had good feed back from committee meetings (Minutes emailed already!!) which went very well considering we had a meeting attendance last week of 28/61 and about 16 went on to join their committees afterwards. Bit of a skeleton crew hey!

However we have some good issues to discuss at board on the 17th August.

Tonight I would like to extend a warm welcome to our wives and partners and any guests who have come along to meet Pablo and listen to his presentation at our dinner meeting.

I’m sure he will make it interesting as he has been preparing some slides to show us, as well as talk to us about his homeland of Belgium, and what it means for him to be on exchange in Australia, so far.

Hope the people assisting Greg Patterson and Charmaine Otto didn’t wear themselves out completely, loading the ‘blessed’ container at DIK. The rewards of their efforts will be seen by Charmaine when she is able to visit the kids, their teachers and the hospital and staff in Ethiopia in the near future. Thanks Weeties, Geoff Penfold and Jim Kay for your help @ DIK.

I visited Glenn Barnett at home on Wednesday this past week. He is very glad to be home now and feels more comfortable being able to recover, albeit slowly, in this familiar environment.

I shall have been in Adelaide on Sunday to see Peter O’Brien, so I’ll tell you what I know tonight!

A reminder: Don’t forget your subs are now due. $100.00; Please see Treasurer Mike Munro, or the assistant Secretary Ron Carey, as there will now be fines for late payment.

Aboriginal tracker

An Australian tour guide as showing a group of American tourists the Top End On their way to Kakadu He was describing the abilities of the> Australian Aborigine to track man or beast over land, through the air and under the sea.
The Americans were incredulous.
Then later in the day, the tour rounded a bend on the highway and discovered, lying in the middle of the road, an Aborigine.
He had one ear pressed to the white line whilst his left leg was held high in the air.
The tour stopped and the guide and the tourists gathered around the prostrate Aborigine.
"Jacky," said the tour guide, "what are you tracking and what are you listening for?"
The aborigine replied, "Down the road about 25 miles is a 1971 Valiant Ute.
It's red. The left front tyre is bald. The front end is out of whack and it has dents in every panel.
There are 9 nungas in the back, all drinking warm sherry.
There are 3 kangaroos on the roof rack and 6 dogs on the front seat."
The American tourists moved forward, astounded by this precise and detailed knowledge.
"Goddammit man, how do you know all that?" asked one.
The Aborigine replied,
"I fell out of the bloody thing about half an hour ago!"

RECTUM STRETCHER

While she was 'flying' down the road, a woman passed over a bridge only to find a cop with a radar gun on the other side lying in wait.
The cop pulled her over, walked up to the car, with that classic patronizing smirk we all know and love, asked, 'What's your hurry?'
To which she replied, 'I'm late for work.'
'Oh yeah,' said the cop, 'what do you do?'
I'm a rectum stretcher,' she responded.
The cop stammered, 'A what? A rectum stretcher? And just what does a rectum stretcher do?'
'Well,' she said, 'I start by inserting one finger, then work my way up to two fingers, then three, then four, then with my whole hand in. I work from side to side until I can get both hands in, and then I slowly but surely stretch it, until it's about 6 feet wide.'
'And just what the hell do you do with a 6 foot bumhole? ' he asked.
'You give him a radar gun and park him behind a bridge...'

The four way test
Of the things we think, say or do:
Is it the truth?
Is it fair to all concerned?
Will it build goodwill and better friendships?
Will it be beneficial to all concerned?

Invocation:

For food, faith and fellowship and every opportunity of service we give you thanks O’Lord.
