President's Message
	Jenk's Jottings

I represented the club at the White Ribbon Day on the Foreshore on Friday 25th November 2011.  I joined a number of men to make a pledge not to commit, condone or remain silent about violence against women.  Mayor Bruce Green lead the pledge in front of the Victims Support Group.

It will be my pleasure to induct Spencer Adamson on Tuesday night.  Please make him feel welcome to our ranks.

John Fosters Seniors Day Project has come to an end and will culminate in a lunch 11am-1pm on Thursday 1st December at the Ravendale Club.  All members and partners are free to attend.  The cost will be $22 per head.  Please advise John Foster of your wish to attend forthwith for catering purposes.

The Christmas Show arrangements are well underway and I do hope for a good attendance as it should be a pleasant informal evening.  An attendance sheet will be sent around soon.

We have our International Student Weekend happening on December 2nd, 3rd and 4th with the students arriving on Friday afternoon.  All club members are encouraged to be part of this weekend as a lot of work has been put in to arrange the various activities.  The programme will appear in this week’s bulletin.

Christmas wine offer.

A project by our Club, for our Club made possible by the generosity of the Turvey Family. If between us we take a pallet or more of Lincoln Estate wines our club will benefit by $2,800 this will help with our running costs and help keep annual subs at a reasonable level.

To help this project please place orders with Ron Carey as soon as possible so that delivery can happen about mid December and the paper work finished before Xmas.

Even if you don’t use it yourself these wines make perfect gifte for family and friends.

If every club member took two cartons the result would be a profit of $5,600 for us and lots of fun for the recipients, sales are not limited to members, talk to your friends and neighbours take their orders too but remember that profits are limited to us.

PROGRAMME FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENT WEEKEND

This weekend will be a joint effort of G’Day Australia and Rotary with support from Study Adelaide.

Study Adelaide is the Government organisation and website for studying in South Australia as an International Student.

FRIDAY DECEMBER 2nd - Euan Miller PDG 9520 and the 20 students will arrive at 4.00pm on Rex and be picked up by and introduced to their home hosts.

On Friday night, dinner is at the Marina Hotel.

• Marina Hotel has been booked – must advise number – 8682 6141
• Rotarians will pay for their own meals.
• Student’s meals will be subsidized by Study Adelaide.
• Our numbers attending to be confirmed

SATURDAY DECEMBER 3rd - 4WD tour from Sleaford to Wanna in the Lincoln National Park through the Sand hills with a picnic lunch arriving back in Port Lincoln mid-afternoon.

• Mike Leech is arranging this part of the weekend.
• Need to liaise with him about arrangements

On Saturday evening, Rotarians will be guests of the students as Euan and the students prepare an international meal for us.

• Venue will be the Port Lincoln Golf Club
• Golf Club has been booked – Liz Weatherspoon – 8682 5957
• Cost for Rotarians will be $15.
• Need to confirm our numbers

SUNDAY DECEMBER 4th - Swim with the Tuna - leaving Port Lincoln at 10.00am and returning at 1.00pm.

• Has been booked for 25 – need to advise numbers to them – Shelley Fiegert
• The cost for trip will be $60 per person.
• Need to ascertain how many Rotarians are going.

On return we can either

• have lunch together, or
• have free time with the home hosts

Return guests to airport in time for the 5.20 flight with Rex.

Two students are staying for two extra nights. They have arranged their own accomodation

District Governor nomination.

'One of the most important functions of our annual duties is the nomination and appointment of a District Governor for 3 years hence.  To serve as Governor is a privilege and an honour for both the selected nominee and for the home club. Our constitution and bylaws require me to call for nominations from all clubs in the district and that is why I wish to impress upon you the following. 

I ask that you consider the selection guidelines and any suitable candidate from within your club and by the 20th of February 2012

1.      Nominate the candidate, by filling out and

2.      Returning the signed Combined Data Form to me via email or hard copy.

Airport Vending Machine Roster

• Rostered periods are now fortnightly. This allows for a minimum of 5 trips per fortnight, rather than 3 per week.
• Two people are rostered each period to provide both flexibility and assistance if required.
