Jenk's Jottings |
Once again Di Baker-Tagg proved to be a very good guest speaker. No one would envy her job dealing with the more delinquent youth of the town.
A big thankyou to Gus Preston taking over the coordination of the BBQ trailer assistance for the RSL at the Penfolds home on 24th-25th September. When Gus has further details he will be calling for volunteers to assist in that project. Thanks also to Dave Gillies and David Johnson for setting up the Bendigo tent for the Saturday fundraiser in Liverpool Street. Please remember your committee meeting on 6th September 2011. I need feed back re the possible merger of Sportsperson of the Year.We have set a date for crabbing and Secretary Ron will inform all members as to the booking requirements for 15-18th March 2012 at Arno Bay. You will need to consider booking early!!I have asked the bulletin editor Dave Gillies (who is doing an excellent job) to put in a calendar of future events and rosters etc.
See you all next Tuesday.
Noel.

Youth Exchange
hi everybody!
i hope everything i good with you all!
Over here, in sweden, it is slowly getting a bit cooler and colder and we're moving in all our outdoor furniture and getting ready for autumn. After a summer with quite good weather it feels okey. And when i say quite good weather its a mix of 30 degrees, sunny days and rainy, windy 15 degrees days which is pretty much what swedish summer is..
For me the summer "started" when all the seniors at my school (about 500 18/19-year olds) went to cyprus for a week with great weather, which consisted of relaxing on the beach during the days and partying during the nights (pretty much the whole week..) id say its a little bit like schoolies in australia.. anyway we had a lot of fun!
Then, after getting back to sweden we just had a few hours to catch up some sleep before we had to get all ready and fixed for the formal. I have been a part of the student committee throughout the last year and my job, together with two other girls, was to get the whole formal organized which has been lot of fun so it was great to see that everything went as we all hoped. good food, good music, everyone was dressed up, the weather was perfect..and on top of that - adrian and margaret arrived in Varberg this day, who had come to spend a week with us, during my graduation, which was just great!! we got to have a quick chat before i had to get back in. fantastic!!
In between we had one day before the actual garduation, when i had time to spend more time with Adrian and Margaret and we had our last meal at school, which felt a bit wierd.. and make our "truck" ready, which we were going to stand on
and have a "little party" the following day.
Finally, the day we had all waited for so long had arrived. We stared the day with a "champagne-breakfast" at our head-teachers house" and then we had photos done, mingeled around with teachers and students in a park before we were going to "run out" as we call it and all youre friends and relatives stands on a big parking lot and everyone put flowers around youre neck.
it is just amazing and so much fun! and im so glad that Margaret and Adrian could be a part of it! Unfortunately Leanne and Stine couldnt make it but there will be other times to come to sweden, and you are all welcome to visit at any time!
After this little "ceremony" we all got on the trucks, which drives around town, while we stand on it - great fun! and then friends and relatives comes to youre house and you just keep on celebrating at home - and at 12 o'clock nighttime you go out and just stay up all night. I think this is the best day in my life so far!
The whole garduation and having Margaret and Adrian here was just such a good start on the summer!
Other than this, i have been working at Mcdonalds, hanging out with friends with amily, both in Varberg and my summerhouse, been going to music festivals, went to england for a week and been studying and driving a lot so i hopefully could get my license next wednesday (fingers crossed)..
My plans for this following year, is to go to PAris and work as an au-pair for 10 months. I will work and live with a family which consists of 3 children, a swedish mum and a french day. I am really looking forward to it and i am leaving Sweden the 9th of September.
Enough about me, how are you all? Is everything going good in Australia, Belguim and Denmark?
Take care and stay safe! lots of love, beata xx
